The most beautiful cemetery in history

The Egyptian civilization is one of the greatest and richest civilizations in history. It is truly crowded with amazing things that impress everyone to the point of fascination and show the extent of the greatness and sophistication of those peoples who lived thousands of years ago on Egyptian soil. The ancient Egyptian civilization is considered one of the oldest and most ancient civilizations in history, if not be the oldest.

In a previous topic, we discussed an article entitled The Greatest Cemetery in History (Cemetery 62), but today we wanted to add to our site another topic that is no less exciting than the previous one, entitled The Most Beautiful Cemetery in History. Let us ask, What is the most beautiful cemetery in the world?

It was known about the ancient Egyptians for their belief in the existence of an afterlife, so they used to decorate their tombs and take with them what might benefit them in the afterlife, such as food, jewelry, or papyri with answers placed next to the deceased to help him overcome the dangers that the deceased might be exposed to in the afterlife, as stated in the Book of the Dead.

Therefore, the ancient Egyptians cared about building and decorating tombs, especially the royal ones. Therefore, the most beautiful tomb in the world is the tomb of the wife of one of the most famous and greatest kings of Egypt, King Ramses II, and it is the tomb of Queen Nefertari.

Queen Nefertari

Queen Nefertari is one of the most famous wives of King Ramses II in history, but she was the most important wife of Ramesses II and the main and beloved wife, as she called her, and for his intense love for her, Ramses II built for his wife Queen Nefertari a temple in Aswan next to his temple in Abu Simbel, the Temple of Nefertari.

Nefertari lived in the period between 1300-1250 BC It seems that Queen Nefertari descended from Nubian origins and was a member of a noble family, and it is believed that Ramses II's marriage to her was to consolidate his position in the south of the valley and in Thebes, as it is believed that she had married Ramses II at the age of thirteen years, while at the age of fifteen years Ramses ascended to the throne Egypt .

Nefertari means the beautiful companion, and the name translates in different meanings, including the unparalleled beloved, or the beautiful beauties of the world, or that she resembles the star that appears at the beginning of a new year. She is also one of the most famous Egyptian queens, like Queen Cleopatra, Nefertiti.

Ramesses the Great decorated the tomb of Nefertari in a wonderful and elegant way to the point of extravagance. The tomb of Queen Nefertari is considered the largest and most prominent tomb in the Valley of the Queens, but rather the most beautiful among the tombs of ancient Egypt. Indeed, the tomb of Queen Nefertari is considered the most beautiful tomb in the world.

The status of the beloved Nefertari

Nefertari was the most famous and most important of the wives of King Ramses II, who lived in the era of the nineteenth dynasty in the 13th century BC.

She sanctified Nefertari like her husband, and historians mention that the word Nefer means good or good, which is what made them translate her name as the best, the best, or the kindest. Nefertari was not the first to bear this preference. She was preceded by Queen Ahmose-Nefertari, the dean of the Eighteenth Dynasty, who was deified by the ancient Egyptians - according to their beliefs - after her death. Nefertari was named after her, and historians suggest that she may be from the same family.

Nefertari took many titles for herself, the most important of which are the hereditary princess, the great royal wife and the lady of the two lands, the goddess of Upper and Lower Egypt, and she also held the position of the wife of God. According to many Egyptologists, this title was mentioned twice in front of her picture in her tomb in the Valley of the Queens, and it is the same title that Ahmose-Nefertari bore before, but due to the magnificence of her beauty, she was also called the beautiful face and the handsome one with two feathers.

There, in southern Egypt, specifically in Luxor, in the Valley of the Queens, is the tomb of the famous Egyptian queen Nefertari, and it is considered one of the most luxurious tombs in the Valley of the Queens. The tomb was discovered in 1904 AD by an Italian mission headed by the famous archaeologist Schiaparelli.

Nefertari's tomb was not opened to the public since its discovery until the early nineties of the last century, due to some damage to the inscriptions and decorations due to the deposition of salts, as it was used in carving a quality that is not the best of limestone, and recently restorations and expansions were made for it and it was reopened to the public again, but with preparation Limited and very high entry cost.

Specialists differed in judging this cemetery. Some believe that it is wonderful and one of the most beautiful tombs in the world, but some of its scenes do not reach the level of perfection, especially in the back part of the burial hall, while others believe that the Egyptian artist has reached the degree of perfection in coloring these scenes and pictures and in his lines.

The bold subtleties that were executed with precision, especially in the scenes that represent the slender Queen, the Cod. The artist excelled in communicating his sense of beauty to the viewer, especially since the scenes here were carved in light relief and painted in bright colors over a delicate layer of plaster.
