Power outages in France! Paris is trying to avoid the dark days of winter
The head of the Energy Regulatory Authority (RTE) in France, Javier Piaczak, said today, Thursday, December 1, 2022, that the lack of electricity supplies may lead to power outages for "a few days" this winter, at the time I was notified. The government informs the local authorities of ways to manage the situation in the event of any potential outages.
"The situation is dangerous, but we should not think that power outages are inevitable," Piaczak was quoted by France Info radio.
In his meeting, Piaczak also referred to the authority's latest forecast regarding the electricity supply, which highlighted the risks of a shortage of such supplies in January.
He continued, "Today we have 35 gigawatts of nuclear energy available until December 1, and the goal is to reach 40 and 41 (gigawatts) by January 1, and to 43 (gigawatts) by the end of the month, compared to a total capacity of 61." .
Piaczak added that FANR based its forecasts on the nuclear maintenance schedule prepared by Electricity de France, with some delays expected.
