With a value exceeding 4 billion pounds, an Emirati company is close to acquiring Liverpool FC
The owners of Liverpool Football Club seem to have already got what they want after a statement yesterday, Monday 7 November, of their desire to sell part of the club's shares.
Liverpool FC is now owned by US group Fenway Sports, which has said it will consider opening up the opportunity for new shareholders after receiving frequent overtures from third parties expressing interest in buying shares in the club.
And the British newspaper, Express, revealed that the Dubai International Capital Group is the first candidate to make an offer of 4.3 billion pounds for the purchase of the prestigious English club.
And she indicated that the American Fenway Sports Group, which owns Liverpool, hopes to get 4.5 billion pounds.
The newspaper said: "The specified amount may be reached if an agreement formula is reached in the negotiations between the two parties."
Liverpool's owners were subjected to great criticism after agreeing to participate in the European Super League by Liverpool fans, which prompted them to withdraw from the project.
Fenway Sports, which also owns the Major League Baseball team Boston Red Sox, completed the acquisition of Liverpool from previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett for 300 million pounds ($343.56 million) in 2010.
"There have been a number of recent ownership changes and rumors of ownership changes in Premier League clubs, and there is no doubt that we are regularly asked about Fenway Sports' ownership of Liverpool," Fenway Sports said in a statement on Monday.
Fenway Sports Group has repeatedly received previous offers from third parties of interest and is seeking to become a shareholder in Liverpool.
Fenway Sports Group has previously confirmed that it will consider making the opportunity for new shareholders under the correct terms and conditions if it is in the best interest of Liverpool, saying in an official statement: "Fenway Sports remains fully committed to Liverpool's success, both on and off the pitch."
Since the acquisition of Liverpool by Fenway Sports, the club has won its first Premier League title in the 2019-20 season while also reaching the Champions League final three times under coach Jurgen Klopp and winning the title in 2019.
