A government official said that at least 9 people were killed and 44 others injured in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan, Pakistan and Indian regions, late on Tuesday.



Abdul Basit, a senior official in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, told Reuters on Wednesday that at least 19 houses were partially damaged by the quake.


A policeman told Reuters that a 13-year-old girl died when a wall of her house collapsed on her, and 150 people were injured in the Swat region in northern Pakistan, where hospitals declared a state of emergency.
